About Us
Advocates provide assistance to students who have been accused of violating the Student Conduct Code or other academic conduct policies. Advocates can also provide support for students going through appeal or formal academic grievance processes.
This includes:
- Scholastic dishonesty (cheating, plagiarism, artificial intelligence (AI) misuse, honor code violations, etc.)
- Behavioral misconduct (e.g. underage drinking, disorderly conduct, theft, threats, etc.)
- Sexual misconduct (Title IX violations or non-Title IX violations, such as sexual assault, sexual harassment, stalking, etc.)
- Academic dismissal
- Academic complaint/grievance
A Student Advocate can help you with:
- Understanding the conduct process and the accusations against you
- Accompanying you to conduct or investigatory meetings
- Resolving your case informally
- Preparing a case and presenting at a formal hearing
- Appealing a hearing panel’s decision
- Reviewing concerns associated with an academic complaint/grievance
This support is available for undergraduate, graduate/PhD, and professional students.
Student Advocates will work with the student to identify and review all the relevant policies, procedures, and handbooks, including the School of Dentistry, the Law School, the School of Medicine, the School of Nursing, and the College of Veterinary Medicine.
